MAGIC® APPLICATION GUIDE
DMPPM7PSA PRESSURE–SENSITIVE POLYPROPYLENE BANNER
magic
MAGIC® DMPPM7PSA is a low–cost polypropylene banner with a permanent, pressure–sensitive adhesive. This product is ideal for short–term outdoor applications where lamination is not necessary. DMPPM7PSA has a universal coating that is compatible with most thermal and aqueous piezo printer systems equipped with dye or pigmented inks. DMPPM7PSA can be applied to a wide variety of flat, smooth surfaces.

APPLICATION GUIDELINES
Applications:
This product is recommended for short–term indoor and outdoor applications.

Printer & Ink Compatibility:
DMPPM7PSA can be printed on all thermal ink jet printers including the HP DesignJet® series, Encad NovaJet® /Pro/ProE, ColorSpan® DisplayMaker series, and most water–based piezo printers. It is recommended to use pigmented inks for longer–lasting images. Although dye–based inks yield superior color gamut, premature fade can occur. Inks NOT recommended for use are the Encad GX, Ilford® Archiva, and ColorSpan® Endurachrome ink because known premature fading may occur.

Printing Guidelines:
To optimize print quality, printers should be set to the highest print quality options available. Media selection in HP DesignJet 2000/3000/5000 printers should be ″Heavy Coated″ mode. Recommended ink saturation level is 250%. Higher ink saturation levels can affect the waterfast properties and show ink bleed in heavy saturation levels.

Color Calibration:
ICC color profiles can be obtained for selected RIP, ink, and printer combinations. The same DMPPM7 color profiles can be used for the DMPPM7PSA product.

Water Resistance & Surface Protection:
To obtain a high degree of water resistance, use only pigmented ink. Lamination is not required. It is recommended to overlaminate for long-term applications, or where cleaning of the imaged surface will be required. Dirt and stains cannot be cleaned off an unprotected imaged surface.

Material Storage:
Once printing is complete, it is recommended to roll imaged media onto a core until ready for posting. Folding of the material is not recommended. After use, media should be placed into its original packaging, in the poly bag, suspended on the end boards. Store in a cool, dry place (72°F +/- 5°). DMPPM7PSA has a 1–year shelf life.

FINISHING RECOMMENDATIONS
Surface Preparation & Recommended Surfaces:
Always ensure that the receiving surface is thoroughly cleaned, free of dust, dirt and cleaner residues. Painted metal, glass and standard graphic art mounting board substrates should be cleaned with standard glass cleaners or isopropyl alcohol (IPA). Poor surface conditions will cause adhesion loss or failure. This product is designed for use on smooth, flat surfaces such as: Stainless steel, glass, acrylics, ABS, polycarbonate, Plexiglas®, Foam Core®, and Sintra®. Textured surfaces and wood tend to promote poor adhesion. Application of this product to dry wall is not recommended due to potential difficulties in removal. Always pretest your application surface prior to actual application.

Installation:
To ensure adequate edge adhesion, it is recommended that 1/2″ be trimmed from the edges of the final print prior to posting. For best results, a professional installer should be used. Dry application method is recommended. For large prints or more difficult surfaces, very small amounts of a wetting solution can be used to aid in the adhesive installation. Spray a small amount of the wetting solution on the application surface. Water, Windex window cleaner, or diluted soap can be used for wet applications.

Laminating:
Let image completely dry prior to lamination. To give surface protection from dirt and abrasion, a pressure″sensitive overlaminate is recommended. Magic DMFTP Fluorex® Transfer Protection can also be used. Overlaminating the one image side may cause the product to curl, making installation more difficult.

Removal:
Removal may require physical scraping or the use of solvents. By inserting a sharp knife or razor under a corner of the graphic and peeling the graphic carefully, the graphic will remove in fairly large pieces. Most residue can be removed by picking with the adhesive side of the removed graphic. If this is unsuccessful, soak the residue with a mild solvent (i.e., isopropyl alcohol, ethanol).
